These themes are combined with a story told in fragments and revolve around the characters portrayed by Samuel L. Jackson and John Travolta. Pulp fiction is basically about two hit men and how their story intertwines with the other characters in the story. The script was written by Quentin Tarantino and Roger Avary; it won an Oscar for best original screen play in 1995.
